On Feb. 21 at Trees, the Dallas fashion and music scene came together for a fashion concert by The Pin Show. The show featured looks by Dallas-based designers Emmanuel Tobias, Nine Muses, Lucy Dang and Nha Khanh, along with musical acts by Diamond Age and French 75.

The setting was dark, intimate and pretty damn sexy. For the fashion portion of the evening, the audience was invited to participate in a live photoshoot for each of the designers. We got to watch in awe while Lead Stylist and Pin Show Runway Talent Director, Willie Johnson, worked his magic and the models strutted their stuff.  Models were provided by The Dragonfly Agency, Wallflower Management and The Clutts Agency. While the shoot was happening, we could see hair and makeup artists and dressers working on looks upstairs (including Austere Fashion Correspondent Chima Onyebuchi who was an assistant stylist for the show).

// EMANUEL TOBIAS

Up first for the designers was Emmanuel Tobias. His beautiful pastel-heavy line made us instantly wish it was already spring. Unfortunately we didn’t get as many shots from this one because we kind of… got stuck on the balcony when it first started (and we weren’t even tipsy yet). We promise it was to die for though.

Last summer Tobias was a pre-finalist on Project Runway Season 13. Tobias also runs a men’s neckwear brand featuring funky bowties called Eman Candy.

// NINE MUSES

Next was Nine Muses, the Dallas women’s luxury label by Jerry Matthews and Francesca Viamonte. They wowed us with an elegant, black and white collection. We think we might have to get our already mostly black wardrobe some new friends.

Designs by Nine Muses are available through contact on their site here.

// LUCY DANG

After an entrancing set by Diamond Age, we were graced with youthful designs by Lucy Dang. (Side note: we had the privilege of featuring in our Dante’s Inferno Fashion Show last summer!) The energy was especially high for this one; we had a lot fun watching fashion photographerBrandon Lyon interact with the models. There may have been a tiny bit of shameless dancing to Taylor Swift (maybe this is when our vodka sprites started to kick in).

Designs by Lucy Dang can be found in stores like Belk, Nina Ranor, Runway Couture and Fine Feathers.

// NHA KHAN

Last on the designer roster was Nha Khan. Two words sum up our thoughts on this one: Power Neutrals. We were immediately smitten by her line and were happy to discover that, like Dang, she is a University of North Texas alumna.

Designs by Nha Khanh can be found in stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Stanley Karshak and Rent-the-Runway.

The night ended with a fiery performance by electro-pop duo French 75—comprised of Jencey and Cole Keeton—that even included live song remixing. The music element brought an effortless cool factor to the evening, while the fashion brought pure elegance. In 2015 we hope to see more events that take advantage of the electric chemistry between fashion and music.

The Pin Show amazed us once again with this unique experience. We’re dying to see what surprises they have in store for their annual fashion show this April. Since this year’s show is at soon-to-be-resurrected concert venue The Bomb Factory, maybe we’ll be lucky enough to get a little bit of musical goodness again.

Huge thanks to Executive Director and Founder Julie McCullough and staff for having us attend. Catch the Pin Show‘s seventh season on April 4th at Bomb Factory in Deep Ellum. Tickets are available now.
