Color harmonies and quirky compositions // Paul Juno

Meet Artist and Macro Photographer Paul Juno

Austere //

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Paul Juno //

I am a Los Angeles based artist and macro photographer. I strive to capture fleeting moments of color harmonies and quirky compositions with the use of thickly placed oil paint, loosely thrown house-paint, or rapidly painted acrylic illustrations. I capture all of this through my Olympus OM-D camera and macro lens attachment. On a macro level it’s an adventure to find accidental compositions or color harmonies. Discovering divine colors within a few inches of space is highly entertaining to me, and I’ve been painting this way for the past few years with no signs of stopping.

Why do you make art?

PJ

I make art because I think about it every second of the day. It almost feels as if I’m programmed to be obsessed with paint.

What’s your favorite piece or series you’ve ever done?

PJ

My favorite series has been the agate series, the loose paint swirls have brought a lot of attention to who I am and what I do. They are also the most fun to photograph.

A

Who/what are you inspired by?

PJ

Georges Braque has been my most recent inspiration, but Van Gogh has been a life-long mentor in seeing color and texture.

What would you choose for your last meal?

PJ

My last meal would be three chocolate chip pancakes the size of dinner plates.
