For as long as I can remember

I’ve been a very nostalgic person, longing for history and story telling, old photographs and films. This same longing has spilled over into my education, now entering my junior year in college I am constantly seeking out creative ways of expressing the significance of history in its shaping of society.

“Citings” attempts to view the body as a vessel, a cavernous craft weighted by memory and its own genealogy.

The images are light and airy, reminiscent of old blurred photographs, and in part inspired by Jenny Saville’s painting series Closed Contact.

The question, ultimately, may be :

how can a body in all its oddity be a source, a citing?
